I am a certified English as a Foreign Language teacher, having received my certificate in the subject from the International TEFL Academy in Chicago, Illinois last month. There I learned all about the ins and outs of ESL/EFL teaching, including lesson planning and the ways in which to maximize a student's success in tutoring. I have also previously worked in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school system on a volunteer basis as a reading and writing coach with both 3rd and 7th grade students.

I love English! I'm a writer by nature, an avid reader (I read 3-5 books per month) and someone who is very passionate about education and language learning. I believe that language and education go hand-in-hand and that one cannot be successful in our modern, global economy without being able to read, write, and speak in a coherent manner. I greatly enjoy learning myself, particularly other languages. I am semi-fluent in French and I studied Japanese for three years in the past. I am currently embarking on learning Mandarin Chinese.
